Devotion: Cast Out Your Devils

 You will win! Amen!!!!!!

Daily Bible Verse

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. ~Hebrews 4:15

Daily Inspiration

Sometimes we look at Jesus’ perfect life and become even more discourage over our struggle with sin. After all, we can never match Jesus’ perfection. How can his example help us? It helps us because he is no stranger to our struggle, and his victory over temptation has opened the door for us to receive his mercy. And by his grace, He makes the power of his perfection available to us, too.

Daily Prayer

Jesus, thank You for living a perfect life and dying a perfect death for me. I am unable to overcome sin on my own, but Your grace and mercy have made a way for me. Empower me to lean on Your perfection in all that I do, so that I may live in Your grace and be prepared to stand in the face of temptation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

God is ALWAYS on time!!!!!

Cast Out Your Devils

By David Jacobs

Cast Out Your Devils: And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils. ~Luke 8:2

Nobody is perfect. This was certainly true of Mary Magdalene, who was widely regarded by scholars to be a prostitute before embracing the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Here she is represented as being possessed by seven devils but also being healed of evil spirits and infirmities.

Many of the women in the Bible are known for their behavior before accepting Christ. As I stated before, nobody is perfect, and to judge the people around you and people in the Bible is to fill your own heart with evil and hate. Who are we to judge? Only God can judge us, and He will, and He did judge Mary Magdalene, who stood beside Jesus in his last days. Was she not worthy of being beside him? of course she was, and her name being mentioned in these verses shows what the true content of her character was when Jesus knew her, the true content of her character was when Jesus knew her, the true content of her character when she embraced the love of God, casting out the evil spirits and infirmities.

Mary Magdalene was present at Jesus’ crucifixion (John 19:25) and at his burial (Mark 15:47). Too many believers in Christ consider who she was BEFORE accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior rather than considering who she was AFTER accepting him. Do we do the same for other characters of the Bible? Meditate on how we treat various figures in the Bible and cast out any evil from your own heart. Accept Jesus as Mary Magdalene is, knowing that if she can do it, you can too.

Prayer

One last point to consider: Mary Magdalene was possessed by seven devils, with seven often meaning many in the Bible. Her character could have been judged harshly by Christ, but it wasn’t. He accepted her completely. Do we do the same to the lowest in our lives? She was the first to whom the risen Christ appeared in Mark 16:9 so let her life be a lesson to us. Judge not lest we be judged. Accept ALL people, follow the example if Christ, and cast the devils of your heart out as Mary Magdalene did.

Jesus is my Rock!!!!!!
